EASY RAZOR WIRE AND BASES FOR TREES Posted by Lt. Craggs [mthomas@netgenics.com] to the Warzone forum on April 27, 1999 For annother quick terrain making idea, here's a good way to make some keen razor wire. need: carbord basing about 8" long by 3" wide (sorry you metric people); thin metal wire (you can get this from Jo-Ann Fabrics), a Thick Highlighter (it needs to be about 2/3 an inch), some type of modleing clay, and the cross-piece from the 4 pack of slotta bases (about 3 per piece of barbed wire you wanna make.) 1) cut a lenght of wire, usually 24" works well. 2) rap the wire around the highlighter in tight loops. don't leave gaps between the loops. 3) slide the looped wire (it should look like a spring) off the highlighter. 4) gently pull apart so it looks spread out. 5) Using the X cross-piece loop some of the wire around the cross piece. You are going for the cross-piece to look like a support of the razor wire. Do this to both ends of the wire, and the middle. Don't worry if some of the loops get streached out or mashed, it'll look like combat damage. 6) trim the cardboard base to approximately the size of the wire and supports. 7) place the crosspices in some modling clay, and attach the clay to the cardboard. 8) paint as desired. And voila, for about 10 minutes of work, you can get some pretty cool looking barbed wire. Also, tired of your trees constantly falling down when someone knocks the table, or tries to move their troops through a small grove... then glue your trees to those old AOL CD's you don't use anyway. you can fit about 2-4 trees (depending on size) per CD, and it leaves enough room to move troops through them, and gives enough cover to determine LOS, obscurement etc. Lt Craggs Saving his 2 Capitolian cents and making his own terrain.
