ONE CLAN SPECIALIST
Tips on how to run Dwarves using just one clan.

: OK, you short weirdoes. I'm being tempted into another army again.
: What I want to know from you: is it possible to play a Dwarven army from
: just one Clan? If I play Dwarf, I don't want to pick and choose like a
: Chinese lunch buffet, I want to pick one clan, stick with it, and play
: it to the hilt. _Maybe_ buy a couple allies from other clans, but not
: too much at all (not to mention how many other minis I have that I don'
: need. But anyways.)
:
: Currently, Blood Bone attract me, because I like bears. I also like the
: mounted dwarf individuals, because I'm weird. I know the Vultures would
: be the easiest, since they're so shooty, but the only Dwarf player in
: our group now plays a very Shooty Dwarf army, so I wanna avoid that if
: possible. I'm keeping an open mind on the whole thing, though.
:
: So. Is this possible?
:
: What are the chances of doing it with the various clans?\

: Jack Dracula, the Accursed
: if not, I'll stick with the Dwarfs I play now: Dragon and Jackal. :}

It is very easy to play only a single clan while I play all the clans very rarely do I mix them and when I do it's usually only one extra squad and I have very good success. I'll go clan by clan minus the Vultures since you don't want to be shooty.

Dark Tusk - high armor, incredibly slow, inexpensive. I recommend DT Legion Swordsmen with there shields high LD and CC, and free tusk attack they are extremely useful. Their elites are very inexpensive and also very effective. Use your troops as your bullies send them in one direction and don't deviate, their armor can see them through the worst missile fire they can throw at you. Use you Totem as a flanker and individual control. I once sent mine on a sweep on the edge of the board and he attacked the rear, very effective.

Bloodbones - to be honest I don't use them much, their axes are okay but don't have great hitting power despite their ST and rarely hit anyway with low CC, I've never used their legion or Totem enough to say much. Flayers are very effective at taking low armored squads. Warhammers are very tough and effective. The Mauler, though, in my humble opinion is one of the best individuals out there thanks to good everything he can hold his own in a fight, he's a common recruit to my forces.

Horned Ones - thanks to Labyrinth, the most versatile of your clans; they have Xbows, armor in their Legions, speed with axehorn warrior, ultra-elites with spearmen, a very effective Totem, and that damage eight ram attack has put more people than you can possibly imagine on their butts. All and all they play like an individual army already.

Wolves - their Legion is cheap and fast but not amazingly impressive. Wolven axes are excellent can openers and have seen their way through many Ogres, Scouts are fun but expensive, Scavenger is good as a hassler use him to harry a flank but not much more, Desert Wolves are cheap, fast, assassins. I'm in constant debate as to whether the Wolf Totem or the Tusks' is more effective; either way this boy is worth his weight in gold.

Even before Labyrinth, Horned Ones were my army that I had the most success with. Dark Tusks running a close second. I mainly used Bloodbones and Wolves as reinforcements but I'm fairly certain either could be used effectively as a stand alone you just have to remember that they are missing the Dwarven cornerstone, Armor.

Hope this helped.
