First off the credits: This info was initially posted on 2/22/97 by some chap with the nomme de guerre of PAINANGEL. He further credits Steve Winter and Mike Lane with actually compiling this info. These values actually work out very well for troop types from the WarZone rule book (Most of the models I checked came out to be +/- 1 point of the listed book value). I have no idea how well they match up with troops from later compendiums, or how they justify points costs for special abilities. I'm sure they must calculate the value for cybertronic figures & then divide by two to get the final point cost... Enough crap, here's the good stuff:
Average figure using Base Stats cost 3 points.

* Power for Art users costs 20 points for power of 10 and 1 Art aspect. Raise power as normal. Each Art aspect after the first is +10 points. Dark Symmetry users pay 2 points per maximum number of dark gifts & get a starting power of 10. You will probably want to require the minimum number of gifts bought be at least 3.
Close Combat Weapons
Base weapon cost: 1 point
Sweeps: +1
Per damage over 10: +.5 x (damage multiplier)
Projectile Weapons
(Max Range/3) + (RM) + [(1 per point of DAM over 10) x (Burst Modifier)] +
Burst Cost*
* Burst Cost: +5 for x2, +10 for x3, +20 for x4.Don't forget that the range modifier (RM) is negative so you will actually be subtracting it, not adding it.
- Sniper Rifles
Use projectile weapon cost divided by 2. Yeah, it's screwed up! SO!- Rocket Launchers
(Max Range/3) + (RM) + [(1 per point of DAM over 10) x (Burst Modifier)] + (Burst Modifierx7) + [(1/2 DAM if Burst Mod = x3) OR (DAM if Burst Mod = x4)]- Flamers & Shotguns
5 points for template attack + [(DAM-10)^2] / 2). Flamer add +3 for burn effect.(If you don't know the symbol (^2) means squared, you need to quit playing games so much & get back to your homework!)
- Weapons using the grenade template (eg. Plasma Carbine)
Multiply cost of weapon by 1.8
Grenades
Who knows?!? You're guess is as good as mine, but damn those AP's pack a
lot of bang for the buck!

Well... as far as I have re-calculated the point costs the following formula also works pretty well (and this includes Cybertronics):
If you compare Bauhaus Hussars and Mishima Samurais it is quite obvious,
that CC and MW cost should be the same... [and that Hussar Sergeants are
horribly overpriced, as are Blood Berets! *g*]
Cartel is also a great source of information (i.e. Bauhaus Doomtrooper -
+2MW +2pts)! Comparing Warrior and Marksman Doomtroopers you get a 2pts
difference for 2 STR (with 13/16 and 16/13 as CC/MW being obviously the
same!!!).
