ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT
A small scenario by Paulo Picolomini

"I wrote this scenario in a bit of a rush and without playtesting it. I wasn't sure just how many points to give each side. Would the ease of just having to kill one target be balanced by any number of bodyguards? I'm not sure. Please comment and tell me what you think I should change."

THE SITUATION:
Cardinal Dominic is on yet another tour of the system attempting to rally the faithful to the word of the Light. Unfortunately for him he mostly seems to be succeeding in angering those in positions of power. His fiery rhetoric and his all too public condemnation of your policies have left you few alternatives but to silence this vocal pest once and for all. You have decided to send out your most trusted covert operatives to intercept the Cardinal's open top motorcade before he can get back in the safety of a cathedral. It is time for an Assassination Attempt!

MISSION OBJECTIVES:
Assassins:
Kill Cardinal Dominic before his motorcade evacuates him to the safety of the Cathedral.
Brotherhood:
Get Cardinal Dominic into the Cathedral with at least one wound left.

SET UP:
The Cardinal's motorcade is passing through the center of a grand avenue with multiple-story buildings on either side. Throngs of the faithful line the sidewalks in the hopes of catching a glimpse of the Cardinal as he passes by on his way to consecrate a new cathedral (For this you may want to use all of your other models from different games). The Cardinal is riding in his private Death Angel Vehicle. He is standing where the statue of Durand would normally be. The Death Angel starts at the very edge of the 6' long board on the main avenue. The Cardinal's security forces may deploy anywhere on the board. However, they all deploy first before any of the Assassins deploy.

The Assassins have hidden themselves among the crowd and in the buildings overlooking the procession. They may deploy anywhere on the board including inside the buildings and among the crowds on the sidewalk. However, none of the Assassins may deploy on the main avenue or in the Cathedral.

THE FORCES:
Assassins:
The Assassins may consist of 250 points of any Corporate, Dark Eden Tribe, or Dark Legion force. Although having some snipers along would be a logical choice it is not required. You may not have a HMG Team, a Mortar Team, or Artillery as they would attract the attention of the Brotherhood Security Force too easily. No member of your force may be larger than Size 2.
Brotherhood:
There are no restrictions for the composition of the 500 point Brotherhood Security Force.

SPECIAL RULES:
* Since the Cardinal's security force isn't really expecting any trouble today, the Death Angel will only move in a straight line down the street at a move of 3" per action until the first Assassin makes an attack on any model on the board. At this point the Brotherhood Security Forces are alerted and the Death Angel may move at its full speed and need not stay on the main avenue.

* The innocent bystanders block line of sight but they don't block movement.

* Due to the difficulty of pushing your way through a crowd, anytime a model moves within 1" of an innocent bystander he must roll 10 or under on a D20 or lose their remaining actions for the turn. The Assassins may avoid having to roll the D20 only if they have fired at an innocent bystander that turn, the bystander need not be killed.

* All Assassin individuals and squads are treated as having the Stalk Special Ability. Aside from following the normal Stalk rules they are also revealed if they set foot onto the main avenue OR the Cathedral.

* The Cardinal may get off the Death Angel or fight from it if the Brotherhood player wants and he may also buy whatever spells are allowed.
